This week's field includes:

  • The field includes 50 of the top 50 in the latest Official World Golf Rankings. You have to go down to the list, the first person not in the field is John Senden.
  • The field includes one 19 of the top 25 of this years PGA Tour money list. The only ones not in the field Mark Wilson, Charley Hoffman, Jeff Quinney, Heath Slocum and Bubba Watson.
  • Every past champion from the last 32 years is playing in the championship except for Nick Faldo who is working television for CBS this week.

A perfect way for fantasy golfers to check on the past performance of all the players in the Masters field are these performance charts, one with the players listed alphabetically and the other with the players listed by average finish.

One last way to check who is the best is through a special formula worked out in Golfstats that gives us the best average performances at the Masters in the last five years.

Time to look at our who's hot and who isn't:

Who to Watch for at the Masters:

Best Bets:

I give him a 50/50 chance of winning. He is better than anybody else, just has to keep the ball in play and putt reasonably well to win.

Vijay Singh

His mechanical game is perfect for Augusta, it's all up to the putting and if he can make his share of five footers.

Be able to see if Winged Foot is really in his rear-view mirror. Has own this course and been in contention on the back nine for last eight years. He could easily tack on Masters win #3 this week, but winds of course is his worst enemy.

Best of the rest:

Adam Scott

On top of his game, just hope that he hasn't past his prime with win last week in Houston. He plays best on big courses, no place bigger than Augusta

Ernie Els

Just like with Greg Norman, it would be a big shame if Els couldn't win this championship. Every week you think he is close, only thing in his way is having 72 consistent holes.

Europe's big hope for a major, he should be a winner at Augusta because he hits it big and hits lots of greens.

Is a very good pick, his game is tailor made for this course which will play firm and fast, could give Tiger and the gang a run for their money. Have to remember he has only played in this event twice before so that is a bit of a disadvantage.

Jim Furyk

Has the short game to do well at Augusta, one of those players like Mike Weir and Ben Crenshaw who hit the ball short but could be a champion here.

Sergio Garcia

Has contented here before but that was in happier times with the putter. Again, that is his whole problem he solves this he will contend and possibly win.

He would surprise a lot of folks, he is a 50 to one great pick who could sneak in and win here.

Longshot's that could come through:

Could be a very good pick, his game is much better he is hitting the ball a lot longer and he has that smooth putting stroke in which he makes just about everything.

Course could be way too much for him, but if he could get things together for 72 holes could pull off the same thing he did in 1999.

Forget about him, he will be gone by Friday evening:

has a great record going for him at Augusta, has never missed a cut in 22 starts. But all of that will end this week, Couples is not in very good shape with his back and has prolong surgery just to try and nurse it back for this week. Unfortunely his big heart won't be able to carry his ailing back, he will be down the road on Friday.
