One last way to check who is the best is through a special formula worked out in Golfstats that gives us the best average performances at the PGA Championship in the last five years.

Time to look at our who's hot and who isn't:

Who to Watch for at the PGA Championship:

Best Bets:

Tiger Woods

Everyone's favorite for good cause after last week's runaway in the Bridgestone. But the thing that really gets me is the fact that he was ready to play and practice at Southern Hills 14 hours after his win. No celebration for Woods it was business as usual as he tries not getting shutout in the majors this year.

Rory Sabbatini

Has a lot going for him, playing well right now and should continue the good play. Also showed us he can win on this kind of course with his win at Colonial, that has a lot of characteristics of Southern Hills.

Kenny Perry

Yes, Kenny Perry. He has played well in the last couple of months, his driving is well suited for this course and a good finish will happen for him.

Best of the rest:

Sergio Garacia

Facts are he is playing great, comes to a course that he did great on in 2001 U.S. Open until a final round 77, only question is if the British Open has taught him he needs to grow up a bit. I think he will play great this week.

Justin Rose

Another of those players that is quietly playing great golf and can win a big event like this

Andres Romero

Still on a hot streak the question is does he have anything left in the tank. I think he does and will contend this week.

Looks to be back in contention and win another major. Course is right up his alley and he should be ready to go, despite the heat.

Vijay Singh

Finished 6th in the 1995 Tour Championship, T9th '96 Tour Championship and T7th in 2001 U.S. Open. So he has the track record on this course but the question is can he put it all together.

Ernie Els

It's "Glory's last stand" for Els who needs a victory in the worst way to get his career back on track. Played well at the British Open, he can win her but again he needs to play 72 great holes which he hasn't done in a while.the world stage and it seems everything is pointed in the right direction.

Looking for a longshot of longshots, this past champion could be a great pick. Has worked hard on his game with Randy Smith and things are coming together. In looking at his Southern Hills record he was T7th and T6th in the Tour Championship played on this course in 1995 & '96.

Adam Scott

This could be a perfect course for him to finally win his first player. Again we just don't know which Adam Scott will show up on Thursday.

He is the sentimental pick of the week, could of been a winner here in 2001 and will be looking to something good to happen this week.

Longshot's that could come through:

Chris DiMarco

Played good last week at Bridgestone, DiMarco needs a great finish not only for his mental side but to have any chance of playing in the Presidents Cup.

Watch him, good be a good longshot pick

Our be careful pick of the week:

Phil Mickelson
2006 '05 '04 '03 '02 '01 '00 '99 '98 '97 '96
T16 Win T6 T23 T34 2 T9 T57 T34/td> T29 T8

It's too bad Mickelson's wrist is 99% but his putter is 100% lost. Again a miracle could happen and he could get it back but don't count on Phil this week

Jim Furyk
2006 '05 '04 '03 '02 '01 '00 '99 '98 '97 '96
T29 T34 Cut T18 9 T7 T72 T8 Cut T6 T17

Odds are that he won't even play, his back as not really improved that much. Even if he does start, he hasn't really prepared, don't expect much.

Not a chance in the world selection:

Colin Montgomerie

Wonder if he has made plans for the weekend because he won't be playing in this event after Friday, just playing terribly.
