This week's field includes:

  • The field includes only seven of the top 25 in the latest Official World Golf Rankings, with three from the Top 10: Ernie Els, Steve Stricker and Justin Rose. The other four top-25 players in the field are Stewart Cink, Geoff Ogilvy, Zach Johnson, Trevor Immelman and Scott Verplank.
  • The field includes 15 of the Top 25 on this year's PGA Tour money list. Those players include J.B. Holmes, Daniel Chopra, Stewart Cink, Steve Lowery, Steve Stricker, Ernie Els, D.J. Trahan, Ryuji Imada, Jeff Quinney, Brian Gay, Steve Marino, Stuart Appleby, Robert Allenby, Boo Weekley and John Mallinger.
  • The field includes four of the six champions: Mark Calcavecchia (2008 & '02), Carl Pettersson (2005), Retief Goosen (2003) and John Huston (2000). The event was not played in 2001 because of the 9/11 tragedy.

A perfect way for fantasy golfers to check on the past performance of all the players in the PODS Championship field are these performance charts, one with the players listed alphabetically and the other with the players listed by average finish.

One last way to check who is the best is through a special formula worked out in Golfstats that gives us the best average performances at the PODS Championship in the last five years.
